Set in a slow-moving town in the 1800s, Winnie Foster discovers a boy drinking from a stream on her family’s property. The boy and his family ultimately kidnap her for a night to stress the importance of their secret – the stream the boy was drinking from gives immortal life to whomever or whatever drinks from it.
I had seen this movie ages ago and decided to read the book on a whim. This is a quick read, but manages to contain elements of action, love, happiness, sadness, and adventure. There’s also a philosophical undertaking to the story, as it makes the reader contemplate the permanence, or impermanence, of life.
This is a very wholesome story and quite enjoyable read.
