This is an almost-50-page cozy mystery that was an enjoyable read for when you’re looking for something quick and entertaining to read. I downloaded this off of Barnes and Noble’s Nook app for free, and due to the length of it, I’m glad I didn’t pay anything for it.
The story follows a food truck owner, Felicia, and a handful of her elderly clientele. One of her regulars is attacked from behind, and evidence leading to why the attack occurred (or rather didn’t) is discovered in Felicia’s fryer. Due to incompetent police work, it’s up to Felicia to discover why someone would attack an elderly woman from behind, and better yet, why.
I enjoyed the story line. The characters were quirky and surprisingly dimensional for such a quick story. Nobody dies in this mystery, and admittedly, the end wasn’t clear to me until about a page or two away from the big reveal.
Honestly, I’d enjoy reading more of these types of stories, but may look to see if there’s a box set or a collection available, since they are such short mysteries. Perfect for lounging poolside or at the beach.
