Blind Tiger

By Sandra Brown

4/5 Stars

Laurel Plummer is newly widowed and adjusting to life as a single mother, with the help of her newly-acquainted father-in-law. She meets Thatcher Hutton, a veteran, ranch-hand, and sharp-shooter on his way into town. The day Hutton arrives to town, the pregnant wife of the town’s doctor mysteriously disappears. During the investigation into her disappearance, Hutton and the town sheriff uncover a deadly dispute between the local bootleggers – who include Plummer and her father-in-law.

Have you ever read a book and felt “this book could’ve been shorter” or “this book needed to be longer to really statisfy the story telling”? That was not the case with this book! The story was just the length it needed to be to tell a compelling story with likeable and dislikeable characters.

This was the first Sandra Brown novel I’ve ever read, and I will absolutely be reading more! There were twists and turns at every corner, which kept the plot interesting and intriguing. The characters were well developed and their growth was evident throughout the story. Initially, Laurel’s character irritated me a bit, but by the end I was rooting for her to get her happy ending.

The plot was unique in the fact that there was murder, love, heartbreak, and sheriff-approved bootlegging. At times it was difficult to follow how all of the storylines were connected, but the climax of the story wove all of the plot points together in a neat, believable bow.
